The moment McCarthy and McCarthyism was discredited. I think people keep waiting for that "wake up everyone!" moment with Trump, but it isn't coming, because unlike the '50s, we no longer simply disagree with each other, we don't even see the same reality in front of our eyes. Hard to see where a nationwide wake-up from this Trumpistani lunacy will come from. Election Day 2020, I hope.

One of the Sunday morning talking heads - don't remember which one - thinks Bolton is the only hope of such a thing. A steady Fox news contributor with enormous GOP cred. But even if he does testify and even if the testimony's damning, I strongly suspect the Trumpistani royal court will have no problem destroying that cred in the eyes of the subjects of the fantasy kingdom.
